The original decks from the 15th century were collected primarily
for the allegorical imagery found on the trump cards. (see Storia) Well, we feel the "deep hermetic symbolism" found in the
modern deck deserves recognition! Simply take a look at the cards and tell us what you see. You can Write about a single illustration, a single card, a series of Tarocks, illustrations, symbols, etc. Any literary form will be accepted: descriptive essay, poem, short story, etc. Just be creative! (example) Tarocks can be viewed by clicking the buttons in the left hand margin on most pages. |
How to Enter:
| Winners will be announced on the last day of
every month. Entries must be received before NOON on the last day of the month to
qualify for that month's contest. There are guidelines which must be followed - any
entries not according to these guidelines will not be considered: a. E-mail your entry to valat@tarock.net b. Entry should be no longer than 350 words. c. Please cut & paste your document into your e-mail; DO NOT "ATTACH" your document file to your e-mail. d. Do not include pictures or graphics. Do not use profanity or vulgar language. e. Do include: your name or pen name; the school you're attending or the city and state in which you live; your e-mail address (optional). In the event that your work is published on tarock.net, this information will appear below it in order to identify that it is yours! f. Only one entry per person per week. g. You can win the Grand Prize only once every six months. h. Please be creative! We know there are some very talented people out there - show us your talent! Prizes: a. One Grand Prizewinner will be announced every month. Grand Prizewinner will receive by mail an official tarock.net t-shirt & his or her entry will be published on tarock.net with a direct link from the tarock.net home page. Grand Prizewinner will be notified by e-mail in order to obtain mailing address for the official tarock.net t-shirt. b. Four Runner-ups will be announced every month. Runner-ups' entries will be published on tarock.net. They will be notified by e-mail containing a direct link to their published work. The stuff we're required to say: a. No purchase necessary to enter. This contest is void where prohibited. b. The contest prizes are not transferable and may not be substituted with any other item. c. tarock.net reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, which will become effective upon announcement. d. By submitting an entry, you agree to hold tarock.net, its partners, directors, consultants, employees, agents and representatives harmless from and against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or contest. e. All entries become the property of tarock.net. Contest entry constitutes an assignment to tarock.net of all copyrights arising under both statute and common law and all other rights derivative therefrom. By entering the contest, entrants grant further permission for tarock.net to publish all or part of the submitted work and to use the entrant's name or pen name without compensation. f. tarock.net is not responsible for any incomplete, lost, late or misdirected submissions including those that may be affected by disruption of computer, network, hardware, software, or electrical systems. Entries obtained from unauthorized sources or which are illegible, mutilated, altered, mechanically reproduced, forged, counterfeited or irregular in any way are void. g.
